The Darling Downs Potters Club Gallery hosts a wide range of handmade, quality ceramic wares created by our Members. The wares are always being updated, so drop in and find a unique, special piece for your home or gift for a loved one.

Master pottery

Masters Collection

Darling Down Pottery Club also cares for a treasured collection of master pottery that have important links with the club over the past 50 years.

These inspirational pieces were either donated by or created by the artists during one-off workshops and demonstrations at our Club.

Each piece has been created with advanced skills and techniques to create works that inspire our members and visitors alike to take our skills further and continue to explore the artform.

Takeo Arakawa (Japan)

1990. Traditional Tea Cup. Fired in a Noborigama kiln to 1200C over 14 days and then 14 days to cool.

1984. 30cm H x 16cm W. Fired in an electric kiln. Barium based dry glaze. Slip trailed and gold lust.

1987. 35cm H. Salt glazed. Wood fire kiln. Spray and poured slip decoration.

Helen Charles (Brisbane, QLD)

1987. 40cm x 44cm. Handbuilt with flattened coils of buff raku clay. Glazed by spraying with multi layers of dry barium glazes.

Robyn Stewart (Rose Park, SA)

1984. 12cm x 9cm. Fired in a gas kiln in a slightly reducing atmosphere to approximately cone 7. Wenger's porcelain, thinly thrown, carved and incised.

Jane Hamlyn (Nottingham -shire, UK)

1990. 8.5cm. Salt glazed natural gas fired kiln. Blue slip, textured rolled handle. Lines made with a small metal wheel from an old camera.

Janet DeBoos (Wee Jasper, Via Yass)

1983. 19cm x 20cm. Sponge stamp decoration using Ferric Oxide. Glazed with dry copper/barium glazes. Overlapped for effects, fired in an electric kiln 1200C.

Beryl Mayes (Toowoomba, QLD)

1993. Facets of Spring. Cesco underglaze colours and leather hard piece. Gas kiln 1280C.

Helen Nankivell (Spence, ACT)

1984. 54cm x 13cm. Sagga fired in an oil fired kiln to 1280C. The enclosed saggar contained combustible materials to produce the decorative carbon surface. Stamped decoration. No glazing.
